A classic 12 pitch 5.6 climb above Boulder
The First Flatiron as seen on the approach. The Direct East Face route goes up the center and then gains the arete on the right not too far below the summit. The top of the Second Flatiron can be seen on the left. The big, slabby summit block is known as the Pullman Car.
The first pitch is the crux of the climb and requires lots of frictioning. Opportunities for protection are very slim.
Dwight belays Kurt, our fearless leader.
Kurt leading up some runout slabs, typical Flatiron terrain.
The Third Flatiron juts up in the distance and the smaller Second Flatiron sits in front of it, their front surfaces seemingly aligned.
At the top of the East Face the route joins the North Arete and follows it to the summit.
Kurt and Dwight perched on the arete waiting for Dominic and I.
