A classic 5.6 Flatiron climb we snuck in on an exceptionally warm winter day
We began on the 4th class Freeway route and traversed left to meet up with the Free For All (5.6) route below the Pullman Car. The Pullman Car is the Second Flatiron's huge summit block. It can be seen in the center of this photo.
We were comfortable climbing unroped up the steep 4th class slabs on the lower part of the route but it was easy to see why some parties choose to rope up here. The exposure is significant in places.
Dominic leading the first roped pitch that takes us to the south (left) side of the Pullman Car. Some 5.6 face climbing is required. The crux of the route lies in getting up onto the Pullman Car (5.6).
Final slabby climb up the east face of the Pullman Car. Dominic is poking his head over the edge at the top.
