Those of us who have decided to fork over $150 each to the Cielo Vista Ranch for an attempt at Culebra Peak in winter get our first view of the mountain as we hike up the snow-covered dirt road that leads to the summer trailhead. Carlos and his buddies have laid a nice snowmibile track for us.

There is a lot of people on the mountain today because this event was organized through 14ers.com. Some skiers even brought their CAT to get to Fourway! Lazy or luxurious?

Red Mountain. Strictly off limits today. Rumor has it a few years ago SOME people (who shall remain nameless) ruined it for everyone when they returned late to checkout after greedily bagging Red Mountain after summitting Culebra. Never again will Red Mountain be allowed in winter... at least that's how the story goes. I'm not supposed to be doing this but I know I'll have no problem nabbing this puppy and making it back to checkout on time so off I sneak.
