After cutting the large switchback low on the Mount Evans Road (and saving ourselves more than 2 miles) we reach tree line. Time to stash the snowshoes; the wind has been (and still is) very busy up here! We enjoy the early morning light show on Mount Spadling and Gray Wolf Mountain while we putter around and chat.

An occasional strong gust encourages us to brace ourselves or be pushed over. Its interesting to see one gust in particular roll down the slope, knocking everyone around down the line in turn.

The final hike from the parking lot to the summit isn't as bad as expected but its certainly windy.

Steve Gladbach stands atop his final winter 14er and becomes the 4th man in history to accomplish this feat. His faithful dog Cooper can be seen in the foreground. Its gusty up here but, miraculously, nice enough for an extended stay.
