A scrambly traverse between two summits with strangely similar names
View of Maroon Peak (left )and the true summit of Belleview Mountain (right) from Belleview Mountain's false summit.
View down Fravert Basin from Belleview Mountain's south ridge.
Maroon Peak as seen from the summit of neighboring Belleview Mountain.
Belleview Mountain as seen from West Maroon Pass. To reach the summit from here, 3rd class scrambling over typical loose Elk rock is required. The easiest route doesn't always follow the ridge crest, but I found it to be fairly well cairned.
Belleview Mountain and Maroon Peak as seen from just south of West Maroon Pass.
Part of the ridge connecting (13er) Belleview Mountain with (12er) Mount Bellview. The ridge is over two miles long and is a mix of easy walking and fun scrambling. I would really like to know why there are two peaks with the same name but slightly different spelling is such close proximity to each other.
There are great views up Rustler Gulch from the ridge. Precarious Peak, UN 13,232 and UN 13,260 are situated at its head.
Looking back at Belleview Mountain and the connecting ridge from near Mount Bellview. West Maroon Pass is right of center.
Mount Bellview and its north ridge. Gothic Mountain is in the background on the left.
View toward the old town of Gothic from Mount Bellview's southwest ridge. Gothic Mountain is on the right. The prominent mountain in the background on the left is Crested Butte.
