Mount Democrat, Mount Cameron, Mount Lincoln & Mount Bross

February 27, 2010

A classic straightforward loop over four 14ers on a very pleasant winter day

Nearing Kite Lake

John nearing Kite Lake on an overcast but unusually warm winter day.

Heading for Mount Democrat

Heading toward Mount Democrat from Kite Lake. Mount Bross, our final objective for the day, dominates the background.

Sen on Democrat's east slopes

Sen takes a breather on the way up Mount Democrat. Loveland Mountain (left) and Mount Buckskin (right) are in the background.

Finessing snow slopes

We had to finesse a short section of mild avalanche terrain to gain Mount Democrat's northeast ridge. Although the slope we climbed was not very steep, the steeper slopes above us may have had the potential to slide. We were able to piece together a good line largely through rocky patches.

Dwight & Mount Cameron

Dwight and Mount Cameron as seen from Mount Democrat's northeast ridge.

Mount Cameron

As we were hiking away from Mount Cameron another group suddenly appeared. They'd come up from Quartzville and were also headed for Mount Lincoln.
