A fun and relatively safe and easy spring climb in the Elks
Jamie heading toward Pearl Pass in early morning. The moon lingered in our view for much of the hike.
Malemute Peak and the entrance to Montezuma Basin at sunrise. Taken from the vicinity of the Pearl Pass Road.
Dwight hiking at sunrise with Castle Peak's East Face as a stunning backdrop.
Jamie contemplating Pearl Mountain's North Face. We ascended the snow on the right hand side of the photo and it deposited us directly on the summit. Notice the moon again.
Jamie topping out on the north face of Pearl Mountain. The face was a moderate snow climb with a maximum slope angle of about 35 degrees. Castle Peak can be seen in the backgound.
Jamie and Dwight on the traverse between Pearl Mountain and "West Pearl Mountain".
View east on the ascent of "West Pearl Mountain". The peaks in the distance on the left are Taylor Mountain and Star Peak. The closer summit on the right is Pearl Mountain.
The last bit of the west ridge of Greg Mace Peak is interesting and requires a bit of scrambling on typical Elk junk.
